The word Godspeed is gotten from the middle English God Speid. It was first used in the 15th century. The word Godspeed is an expression of success, goodwill, good fortune to someone who is about to embark on a journey.
The word occurs in only one passage in the Bible in the king james version, in 2 John 1:10-11 “If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds”
In this scripture John is warning Christians against receiving false teachers.
